Friday 25th JulyOpening night at The Princess Alice! What better way to kick off an event than with two top quality bands? This is exactly what we did tonight!
Shoebox
To open the show this evening we had local band Shoebox perform for us. These guys are all from Middlesbrough and have definately began to attract a lot of attention lately. Their original songs have a certain directness and the guys play them impeccably. Loaded with harmonies and punchy bass, they have a quality which nods in the direction of The Kooks, The Kaiser Chiefs and the verve of the post punk era, whilst still remaining unique to themselves.
Shoebox are improving all the time as a unit and there is no doubt that they will go a long way if they keep performing to the standard they have already achieved. We were delighted to have had them play at the opening night of The Alice Unsigned and we look forward to having them back again in the near future. Radio Dynamics

Headlining tonight at The Alice we had Radio Dynamics a four piece Rock / Funk / powerpop band hailing from Teesside and County Durham. We had heard their demo CD and thought they were something pretty special but that did not prepare us for the real thing. Radio Dynamics are by far one of the most outstanding bands we have had the pleasure to see in quite some time. The performance this band put on for the Alice was both entertaining, polished and delivered with maturity and purpose. Four outstanding musicians who are tight as a unit and are producing original material that is both powerful and refreshing.
If I was asked to liken this band to anybody I would have to say they reminded me to a degree of The Manic Street Preachers with a smattering of REM. However the delivery of the songs is definately all Radio Dynamics - how Seamus hits those high notes is beyond me!
If you are a venue looking for a brilliant, highly entertaining band with a dynamic between them that is second to none then look no further. Radio Dynamics are the ones to book. Find out more about this outstanding band at their MySpace page.
A fantastic start to what we hope will become a succesful event. Next week we have 4 Mile Drive supporting Thee Strawberry Mynde who are playing for the first time in ten years in Middlesbrough! Don't miss next Friday down at The Alice Unsigned!
