Band Biography

Minnie and The Victors are a fresh and raw new band who burst onto the local Tyneside scene in Spring 2009. The Victors are a group of accomplished musicians which features Mark on guitar, Jamie on bass, Davey on saxaphone and Doug on drums. They are fronted by Minnie with her powerhouse of a voice and energetic performance.

Covering the likes of Freddy King, Erma Franklin, Janis Joplin, The Animals, The Rolling Stones they manage to bring a new sound to these classic tunes. This year alone they have played at Newcastle, Morecambe and Callander Blues Festivals as well as an acoustic set on a live radio show.

Minnie and the Victors came down to The Princess Alice back in October to take part in The Battle of the Bands and subsequently returned for the semi's and the final. The first time we saw them we were stunned by the power of the performance this band puts across, the second and third times only served to confirm just how exceptionally good they are. Minnie is petite but when she takes to the stage she suddenly becomes larger than life. Vocally she is outstanding and she never stops for the entire performance. The band behind her are equally as dynamic and definitely know their stuff, when I found out that they had been together less than a year I was amazed, you would think they had been together for years, they are so tight. Their sound is full on and is enhanced by the saxophone which gives the whole ensemble an extra dimension. Each time they have played they have had the whole venue up dancing and I am really looking forward to seeing them play a full set as the half hour slots we had for the BotB was simply not long enough to fully appreciate what these guys are capable of. We have booked them again to play at the Penny Black Festival in May and they will be making a return to The Penny Black next December for a Saturday night gig.

Having seen many, many Cover Bands over the years, and also managing one who I thought were outstanding, I have to say the Minnie and the Victors are by far the finest Cover Band I have seen in a long time, they have a unique sound and quality to them which can't fail to leave you uplifted. I would urge any venue who is currently booking for 2010 to get in touch with this band, but get in fast because already their diary is filling up. Minnie and the Victors are definitely the ones to watch out for next year.
