If you're already a fan of Joe Solo, you certainly don't need me to explain or point out the merits & highlights of this, his latest offering, as you'll no doubt already own it. However for the uninitiated, Joe Solo is an outstanding talent & deserves to be known to a wider audience.

The album "Forwards is Just Backwards in Reverse" is more or less how you'd expect to hear him perform live; sparse instrumentation utilising Guitar. Vocals, Harmonica & rudimentary percussion (which include the guitar itself) make up this fine fine album. If you're expecting a pop attitude or big rocking hooks, then you may be sorely disappointed, as Joe is a passionate & exemplary exponent of the "Social Commentary" gregarious style of song; there's no 'I love you baby, ooh yeah' I'm happy to report. Instead you'll find 13 tracks of thought provoking, delicately crafted songs wrapped in Joe's very distinct vocal style.

An absolutely delightful album, filled with social angst set against the musical backdrop of contemporary folk, northern blues, and maybe a wink or three to the uniquely British Pop of the Kinks. An absolutely sublime work; If you're a collector or genuinely love good music, then you need to buy this CD.
