The Hyads

The debut single from The Hyads: "Didn't Want it This Way" is a glorious and unashamed nod and wink back to those halcyon days of Post Punk/New Wave boom of the late 70's & early 80's. Reminiscent of iconic bands such as The Undertones & The Buzzcocks, it certainly has a "retro" feel. However, The Hyads have managed to dust down and reinvigorate the genre with a modern luster, and it works satisfyingly well.

Anyone who grew up listening to bands like Blondie, The Clash, Spizzenergi et al, will no doubt be transported back to those heady days of musical upheaval & embrace this gem of an offering. Those not old enough or not familiar with the bands mentioned, should embrace this regardless, as it does its job of getting the feet moving & the head nodding; a perfect slice of punk-pop.
