Gin Soaked Boy - Peace In You

Those Gin Soaked Boys effortlessly carry the torch they lit from their stunning 1st extended player, douse it with kerosene and flame away into this sublime follow up.

Peace In You is a 3 track EP which shows the band have matured, crafted and honed their sound into a much fuller and tightly structured beast.

Gone are any slight REM influence, as the band concentrate on their own take of the Power Pop/Indie Rock genre. Though there will be inevitable comparisons to the Manic Street Preachers, which is no bad thing at all, GSB deservedly stand out as one of the finest unsigned Bands around.

The titular tune "Peace In You", is a fantastic wedge of fuzzy power pop with a great descending intro hook; sublime, knowing lyrics and an infectious chorus. A brilliantly constructed middle eight, which would have to be trimmed if it were to ever get national airplay, as the song itself comes in at a shade under 5 minutes. "Don't Leave Me Now" carry's on the triumph of the previous track by treating us to another instantly singable chorus.

The third & final track, aptly called "Closure" slows down to an almost rock-ballad; thankfully there are no cheesy keyboard strings to mar this heartfelt and truly exceptional song.

On the evidence of this EP, you can only see them going from strength to strength, and I for one am convinced that major success will soon be within sight for them. As said in the previous review, they're as good live as they are on, what has to be said, this superbly produced CD
