Whitby Pirate Day 2009
Whitby
After the huge success of last year Charlie and Lori - the organisers of Pirate Day have decided to make this an annual event. We had so much fun providing the live entertainment last year we didn't hesitate to step in and do it again this year. We were situated on the bandstand last year and only put on 5 artists throughout the day, this year we were outside the Tourist Info building and went bigger and better!
Starting off with Stormcrow we put on a total of 11 artists throughout the day. Most of our acts dressed up as pirates and really got with the spirit of the day and the reason behind it - to raise cash for the RNLI! Andy Broderick, Barbara Helen Carl Eaton and Brother Crow were all back again this year by popular demand, joined by The Bass Players Daughter, Carmella Rox, Phil Graham, Head of Light Entertainment, Mark Boden and Phil Philo and finally to end the day Tri.
An absolutely superb day was had by all and the weather was kind to us too! Fanatastic performances from all of our artists and a guest spot for Holly Shahverdi
who sang Light up accompanied by Mark Bodan.
We raised a total of £580 for the RNLI and had a lot of fun in the process - at one point we even had a dancing dog joining in with the entertainment. The guys from The Whitby Pirate Association were tremendous in their support for the event, they add such an authentic feel to the day with their outfits and manner - I really think they are pirates!
Videos of the performances can be seen on our You Tube site Here together with footage from many other of our events. Watch out for the one with the dancing dog!
Next year we are hoping to be back on the bandstand and news of the date etc will be posted on our news page as soon as we have the event confirmed. Keep up to date with Whitby Pirate Day by visiting their website
