The Stone Rosez

This brand new Tribute Band held a special launch party at The Dickens Inn in Middlesbrough on Friday 9th April. Consisting of 4 members Paul on vocals, John on Bass, Mal on guitar and Craig on drums, these guys have put together a tribute band to be reckoned with.
When we heard about the gig we were only too happy to send along one of our team to check them out. Frank Todd is a massive Stone Roses fan and he was eager to see what this band could do. Here is what he had to say about them;
The Dickens Inn was packed for the launch party with well over 150 people in the audience. The band had clearly put a lot of thought into the presentation for the night and the sound engineers who they had employed to do the gig did a fantastic job. A 4k Rig was used and the sound was superb throughout the performance. As for what was going on up on the stage you had a fantastic frontman who had the persona and arrogance that goes with a Stone Roses Tribute - he really got the crowd going! As a band they do everything that is expected musically, the unit is tight and very well rehearsed, both guitar and bass have matched the sounds of the Stone Roses incorporating live licks and ditties into the studio versions of the tunes. Improvisation has an enormous amount to do with a performance and again The Stone Rosez do not dissappoint, extended solo's and mindblowing segues, lots of breakdowns and great dynamics to suit the story of each song had the crowd ecstatic and wanting more. The band grew into the set as the gig went on and they finished off with a series of hits, cranking up the volume to the delight of everybody there.
This band are clearly Stone Roses fans and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves through out the performance all four have a fantastic stage presence with real ferocity coming from the stage as they played keeping everybody hooked until the end of the show. They played a full range of Stone Roses tracks to please every dedicated fan but also those in the audience who only really know the hits. There are hundreds of Covers Bands on the circuit who play a mixture of many bands - The Stone Roses included - but it takes a certain amount of dedication and skill to pull of a complete set of material by one legendary band. And these guys do not dissappoint.
All in all this was a really enjoyable night and as a fan of The Stone Roses I can absolutely recommend this band to anybody. The music is second to none, the set is well thought out and crafted to portray The Stone Roses as we remember them and the guys are great both on and off stage, there are no ego's here just four local lads playing music by their hero's for the sheer love of it.
