Rough Justice at Doc Browns, Middlesbrough

Rough Justice are a four piece classic rock band all hailing from the Teesside area. The band has been together just over a year and already have a well deserved reputation for being one of the best new bands in the area.

We caught up with Rough Justice at Doctor Browns in Middlesbrough on a Saturday night, the place was packed solid with many people travelling from as far as Darlington and Stockton to see the guys perform.

They were not disappointed, the set began with The Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin, fantastically performed and well received. The lads then went into a diverse and polished 1st set. Ranging from David Bowie to AC/DC the set covered a wide range of music styles and not only entertained the audience, it had them shouting for more at half time.

The second set was even better than the first one with numbers such as Black Dog, Alright Now, Knights of Cydonia and even a rendition of the 50's classic Tutti Frutti.

One of the high points of the night was Toms delivery of Since I've been loving you, backed up by the skill of the rest of the band.

Another treat was the fantastic performance of Jono, Frank and Higgy in their interpretation of Dazed and Confused. All in all a brilliant evenings entertainment. If you like your Classic Rock these lads are the ones to watch out for.

Rough Justice is a young band with all the members currently studying music at Middlesbrough Music College, where they met. They consist of Tom Jackson - Lead vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Jono Hinley - Lead Guitar, Frank Todd - Bass, Daniel Higgins - Drums. They are due to play at The Kasbah in Coventry in February 08 and have played many of the local venues including the Number 1 Rally in Stokesley last year. 2007 saw them emerge as the winners of the Corus Steel Family Gala battle of the bands which they have been asked to open this year. The Rock the Lass Festival, sponsered by The Yorkshire Lass in New Marske in aid of the Macmillan Cancer fund is a big event held in August. Last year they won the Battle of the Bands at The Yorkshire Lass resulting in a spot at the festival and £250 - which they donated back to the charity. They have been invited to play at the 2008 Rock the Lass festival in August.
