Blue Bridge Battle of the Bands
Round Three.
The third round of the Bluebridge Battle of the Bands at Doctor Browns took place on Wednesday May 28th. This week we had Cynical Breakdown from Middlesbrough, Silent Club from Middlesbrough and HED from Ashington.
Silent Club

First to take the stage this week were Silent Club. These guys all hail from Middlesbrough and have been around for a couple of years, steadily building up a reputation as a well rounded, popular band.
Tonight Adam was unfortunately very ill with the flu but this didn't stop him from playing an awesome drum set for his band. Evan - lead singer - put on a fine performance vocally and Jackson on Bass and Shawn on lead guitar both added the final crucial elements to make this performance outstanding! These guys have played at a lot of the top Teesside venues and are now looking to broaden their horizons by playing further afield. If tonights performance is anything to go by they should have no trouble in doing just that!
Cynical Breakdown

Up next tonight we had Cynical Breakdown who are a very new band only recently formed, in fact tonights performance was their debut gig! Cynical Breakdown describe themselves as being undescribable and we would have to agree, they have a very different feel and even though they had not performed before to an audience they were professional and confident.
It has to be said that if we hadn't known this was the first gig for this group we would never have guessed. All four guys played a brilliant set and clearly enjoyed what they were doing, they played all original material and the standard of the tracks was extremely high. Definately a young band to keep an eye on for the future!
H.E.D

The final act of the evening were H.E.D. This band hails from Ashington way up in Northunberland and have been playing the North East Circuit for many years.
It has to be said that H.E.D were not only seasoned and professional, they were also very entertaining and left everyone wanting more! H.E.D not only do their own material they also do a full covers set too and any North East Landlord who is looking for a great act with a lot of variety could do a lot worse than looking these guys up. Bran who leads the band had lots of advise for the two younger bands playing that evening and managed to chat to them between songs seamlessly.
We will be definately having H.E.D on at our future events, the only way to describe them was absolutely fantastic! Bran runs Bubbles Bar in Ashington and is currently putting on local unsigned bands on a regular basis to promote his local talent. A passionate band who are brilliant at what they do!
We have put 5 categories in the judging criteria for this battle. Entertainment Value, Originality, Presentation, Musical Ability and Overall performance. Each band can score a maximum of 50 points from each judge based on the five categories.
