Starship Intercourse - Lithium Speed Dementia

Starship Intercourse

Where to start? It was an absolute pleasure been asked to review this EP. The only criticism I can find is that there are only four tracks….I was left wanting more. The EP "Starship Intercourse" is dynamic and innovative Indie power pop. All 4 tracks on this EP are superbly structured, well written & executed with aplomb.

With possible influences ranging from The Buzzcocks, early Adam & the Antz, The Manic Street Preachers & smoothed by the Synth styling of John Foxx era Ultravox (and maybe even a touch of late Fad Gadget for good measure), you know you're in for something a little bit special.

Certainly LSD seems to hark back to the best of the 80's with regard to the structuring of their songs. Superb use of dynamics; particularly in the first track "This Life Explodes", and refreshingly, sublime harmonies; something a lot of bands seem to totally miss. Great hook lines, lyrically aware & bouncing with energy.

The biggest mystery really is why this band hasn't been signed.

LSD is without doubt one of the most promising bands to emerge from the North East in recent years. They are a welcome relief from the dearth of wannabe copycat bands, whose sole aim seems to be to emulate the Arctic Monkeys.

Anyone who likes music should check this band out; seriously, if they are playing in your neck of the woods, stop what you're doing, re-arrange your night and go see them play live.

Without doubt LSD is one of the best bands in the Teesside area. I expect big things for them very soon.

You can check LSD out on their MySpace.
