This City Romance at KuBar, Stockton

This City Romance is a young band from Middlesbrough made up of five musicians who met whilst studying at Middlesbrough Music College. We caught their show at Ku Bar in Stockton where they were playing together with The Chevrolites and Orphan Boy on Friday 25th April.The first thing that strikes you about the music this band was playing is its pure originality. This City Romance consists of Dave Affleck - Lead Vocals, Kear McGill - Lead Guitar, Dean Alderson - Rhythm Guitar, Matthew Byrne - Drums and Frank Todd - Bass Guitar. Their set consisted of five songs which have all been written within the last four months. Each member of the band have come from other bands which concentrated mainly on cover material. This venture is looked on as an opportunity for these five talented lads to get their own original material heard. When asked who they sound like their reply is themselves. This City Romance have a truly unique sound and we can see them going on to bigger and better things very quickly. They have already recorded their first five tracks and they are handing out demo's at all of the gigs they play. We saw over 50 CD's snapped up at Ku Bar alone!
