Teesside Open Mic is held every other Monday at The Sportsman Bar in Eaglescliffe.
The Teesside Open Mic Club (TOMC) has been set up to give local singers and singer / songwriters an opportunity to gain experience performing to a live audience without having to go through the process of getting normal music gigs, which is very difficult to do without experience of live performance.

Open mics have been gaining in popularity in recent times, but there is still no real "scene" in the Teesside area. TOMC is hoping to provide a much-needed outlet for singer-songwriters. The more popular these Open Mic nights become in Teesside, then the greater the opportunity for a singer-songwriter to gain exposure and experience for their songs. We are hoping to expand the number of nights we do to 3 a week in different venues throughout the Teesside region; but for now we start at the Sportsman's Bar in Eaglescliffe. Hopefully this will become a weekly event by the Summer!! (2008 that is!)

We want to encourage North East artists to get up and perform their "stuff" and start them on the road to gaining much needed stage experience before entering into the world of "full on" live gigs.

All they have to do is turn up, a full professional PA system is provided. Slots need to be booked in advance as it needs to be coordinated and organized professionally. On an average night seven artists will play 3 to 5 songs each. So, it has the potential to become a very versatile and interesting night of music, both for the audience and fellow musicians. It is also a great opportunity for other musicians to network and find that elusive lead singer to front their new aspiring band!!!

It is also a great opportunity for new singers and songwriters to get support and encouragement from more established performers.
