Eskimo Sandwich - Which Way to Go?
If U2, Simple Minds & Depeche Mode were to team up and write a song; it would probably sound something like "Which Way To Go" the title track of the follow up EP from those Eskimo Sandwich boys.
More guitar driven hooks, foot tapping & head nodding, this is another great tune from the Northallerton foursome.
Continuing with their 80's influenced tunes, they have now introduced Nirvana-esque dynamics to their sound and are subtly messing with tempo changes.
This second offering has a harder edge than the first, mainly due to the thicker overdrive guitar.
The second track, "Drift Away" is another example of the guys experimenting with style & tempo, roaring through a gamut that includes Ska, 70's Muzak, a touch of New Wave and a healthy smattering of Power Pop, and Incorporates jarring time changes and sudden stops followed by crashing, driven guitar.
"Amplified", the final track, throws nods to the already mentioned Essex electro-pop engineers Depeche Mode, and early U2. Altogether a great mix of styles that works superbly.
Another outstanding release for Eskimo Sandwich and I look forward to hearing much more from these guys in the not too distant future.
Check out Eskimo Sandwich on their MySpace Page.
