Woolcraft - Absinthe Minded

Woolcraft - Absinthe Minded

Woolcraft up the ante in this follow up CD to last years "Power Nap", sounding more outré and cynical than it's predecessor, it has an overall darker feel. The humour is still present with smatterings of wry slights and the trademark sardonic observations.

There is a distinct reggae/dub feel that is prevalent throughout the album but there are also traces of Punk, Break Beat & a touch of Experimental Pop that add the extra dimensions that make this a great CD and one you'll play over and over.

You just can't pigeon-hole Woolcraft at all though; it's not only been a refreshing change, but a joy, to do this review. Absinthe Minded is a cracking 10 track CD which stands head & shoulders above the vast majority of its peers.

Highlights include the opening track "Toytown" - a skewed song ostensibly aiming a bolt directly at modern housing development. And without doubt the funniest track "Jeffs Haunted Shirt" which literally had me laughing out loud. Truly fantastic stuff.

The CD is free to anyone who asks for a copy - just go to the Woolcraft MySpace.

Highly recommended to anyone with ears.
